Everything you need to know about Five Star

We like to think of Five Star as a big thank you to Hertz Gold Plus Rewards Members who choose to book with us time and time again.

Five Star status is obtainable through 12 qualifying Hertz Gold Plus Rewards rentals in a calendar year.

As a Five Star member, you will enjoy a select level of benefits and privileges:

Free additional driver for anyone travelling with member in participating locations in Europe
• Complimentary one-car-class upgrades with every rental (subject to availability)
25% bonus points on all Hertz
• Email offers for special discounts, exclusive events access and invitations to win fabulous prizes
• Plus, all the time-saving perks of the Gold Plus Rewards programme

Membership Criteria

Qualification for Five Star membership requires 12-19 rentals annually or $2,400 to $3,999 in spend. Annual re-qualification is required, beginning on January 1 and ending on December 31 of every year. Tier upgrades will be executed for individual members daily within 24 hours after members complete the required number of car rentals. Members will keep their tier status until the end of the following year. For example, members who earn their tier in June 2018 will retain their tier until the end of 2019.

Your qualifying Year-To-Date (YTD) car rental tally can be viewed when you log in at www.hertz.com and select "My Account" followed by "Rewards Account Activity".


One-car-class Upgrades

Subject to vehicle availability, one-car-class upgrade is offered at participating Hertz locations in the U.S., Canada, Namibia, South Africa and participating airport locations in Europe (Brussels, Berlin, Dusseldorf, Frankfurt, Hamburg, Munich, Stuttgart, Helsinki, Oslo, Rovaniemi, Turku, Paris Orly, Paris Charles de Gaulle, Marseille, Nice, Toulouse, Lyon, Bordeaux, Athens, London Heathrow, London Gatwick, Manchester, Edinburgh, Birmingham, Dublin, Milan Linate, Milan Malpensa, Rome Fiumicino, Amsterdam, Vienna, Lisbon, Madrid, Barcelona, Stockholm, Goteborg, Geneva and Zurich) with a 48-hour advance reservation. Maximum upgrade is to a Full-size car with a minimum reserved Compact vehicle. For Compact 4-Door rentals, maximum upgrade will be to a Full-Size 4-Door car. The upgrade is to the next car class only. This excludes Special Equipment such as Minivans, SUVs and Hertz Collections vehicles. Upgrades do not apply to rentals longer than 30 days.


Bonus Points

The Five Star 25% bonus Hertz Gold Plus Rewards Points will be automatically calculated and credited to your account if Gold Plus Rewards number is provided and Gold Plus Rewards points opt-in is done at time of reservation, rental or return. Gold Plus Rewards must be used in place of any Frequent Traveler program number. Bonus is granted only in Hertz Gold Plus Rewards Points and not on frequent traveler miles/credits or hotel points. Bonus may be combined only with one other promotion, offer or discount.

To receive Gold Plus Rewards Points on all qualifying rentals, simply log in, click on “My Account” from the top navigation bar, then click the “Edit” link by Membership Details and check the box under “Hertz Gold Plus Rewards”.

To confirm your Hertz Gold Plus Rewards Point balance, log onto hertz.com and click on "My Account" found in the top right navigation bar.

Reward Rental Days

Blackout periods apply for Standard Rewards redemptions and may vary from blackout periods for other Hertz programs. Comparable AnyDay Rewards redemptions are available for somewhat higher redemption values and have no blackouts.

Points do not expire if you have a Hertz Gold Plus Rewards® rental activity in the prior 18 months. Activity means a Gold Plus Rewards® point was either earned or redeemed on a rental. You must be a Hertz Gold Plus Rewards member to participate in the Gold Plus Rewards Points Program. Residency restrictions apply.

Email offers

Marketing offers and materials, including rental coupons, will only be provided to members who permit Hertz to send to them marketing offers and materials. Follow these steps when managing your account on hertz.com:

• Edit the ‘Membership Details’ section in ‘My Profile’
• Under ‘Privacy Elections’, select ‘Yes’ for ‘Your Email’
• Then click on the ‘Update’ button to save your changes



All Hertz Gold Plus Rewards Membership and Rental Terms and Conditions apply, including the right to change, limit or modify the Five Star Program or portions of the program at any time. Membership and qualification for Five Star depend on country of residency. The program may be terminated by Hertz upon six months’ notice to members.
